Facts I Came Across While Looking for Something Else (1)

Refineries get 46.5 gallons of gas from 1 barrel of oil, which, blood-wise, is close to what an oil company gets from 1 human.

The human lifespan in classical Rome and Greece was 28 years. (This must be taking into consideration the slaves and gladiators who died young and often, if the movies got it right, and we have no reason to doubt the cinema.)

The maximum lifespan of a box turtle is 125 years. It took the lives of two dedicated and very patient scientists, back to back, to come to this discovery.

Only two percent of the 1.2 million unique book titles sold in 2004 had sales of more than 5,000 copies.
